Manchester United have confirmed that midfielder Casemiro will be absent from the team’s upcoming Premier League match against Sheffield United due to a minor issue that he sustained during his international duties.
The club has granted him permission to remain in Brazil for necessary treatment. Additionally, the player is already ruled out for the Champions League fixture against Copenhagen next week due to suspension.
On the positive side, Manchester United have received encouraging news regarding the fitness of Sofyan Amrabat and Sergio Reguilon. Amrabat’s availability for the weekend match was initially in doubt after he missed an international fixture for Morocco due to a minor injury concern. However, the midfielder participated in training with the team on Thursday, suggesting that he is likely to be fit for the game against Sheffield United.
Similarly, Reguilon, who has been struggling with a hamstring issue, has resumed training and is expected to feature at left-back, considering the ongoing absences of Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia. Shaw is sidelined until next month due to a muscular problem, while Malacia is in the recovery phase following a knee operation earlier in the year.
However, doubts persist over the availability of Raphael Varane for the upcoming fixture, as the French defender missed the previous match against Brentford due to a minor injury concern. However, he was spotted in today’s training along with Kobbie Mainoo, who has also been absent since August. The club will be monitoring their situations closely ahead of the game.
In terms of other injury news, Lisandro Martinez, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, and Amad Diallo are also currently sidelined. Additionally, Jadon Sancho continues to be absent from the team due to reported disagreements with head coach Erik ten Hag. Manchester United will be hoping for a quick recovery for their injured players as they aim to build momentum in the Premier League.
