Manchester United has completed the signing of Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce for a reported initial fee of £4.3 million.
Bayindir, 25, has signed a four-year contract with the option for an additional year.
Bayindir expressed his excitement about joining Manchester United, calling it a “huge honor” and noting that he’s passionate about helping the team achieve its ambitions. He also mentioned his eagerness to work with the club’s experienced goalkeeping unit.
This signing comes after the departure of goalkeeper Dean Henderson to Crystal Palace for £20 million, leaving Manchester United in need of additional depth in the goalkeeping position. David De Gea, the club’s long-time No. 1, also left the club after his contract expired.
Altay Bayindir has been a key player for Fenerbahce, helping them win the Turkish Cup last season and secure a second-place finish in the Super Lig. His consistent performances in a strong European league have made him a valuable addition to Manchester United’s squad.
Bayindir is the second goalkeeper Manchester United has signed this summer, following the arrival of Andre Onana from Inter Milan for £47.2 million. These acquisitions provide depth and competition in the goalkeeping department, ensuring that the team is well-prepared for various competitions throughout the season.
