French forward Moussa Dembele has signed with Al-Ettifaq as a free agent after his contract with Olympique Lyonnais ended, according to the Saudi Pro League club.
The specific financial terms of the agreement were not revealed.
“Moussa Dembele, welcome to Al-Ettifaq,” the club posted on Twitter.
Dembele had a remarkable performance in the Scottish league when he joined Celtic in 2016, helping them win consecutive treble titles. He transferred to Lyon in 2018 but had a disappointing loan spell at Atletico Madrid in the 2020/21 season, playing only seven games. He returned to Lyon, where he made 172 appearances and scored 70 goals in all competitions. On Wednesday, Lyon also signed Scotland defender Jack Hendry from Club Brugge.
Since Cristiano Ronaldo’s move to Al-Nassr in December, there have been rumors of several high-profile players being linked to the Saudi Arabian Pro League.
