Nielsen Gracenote tips USWNT to win their 3rd consecutive World Cup

According to Nielsen Gracenote, USWNT is the frontrunner to win the Women’s World Cup.

However, they face tough competition from top European teams and co-hosts Australia. The Americans have an 18% chance of securing their third consecutive title and fifth overall victory. The main contenders are Sweden, Germany, France, and England, with a 58% probability that the winner will emerge from this group.

According to Gracenote’s prediction, Sweden, who won the Olympic silver medal and is ranked third, has the second highest probability of winning the tournament at 11%, based on around one million simulations.

“Our simulations confirm that World Cup 2023 is likely to be a very open and competitive tournament,” said Gracenote’s head of analysis Simon Gleave.

“There is a strong challenge to champions and favourites USA from Europe and Australia’s home advantage has boosted them to the seventh most likely team to win the competition.”

Germany, France, England, Spain, Australia, Brazil, and Canada are considered the favorites in the World Cup. The most likely quarter-finalists are Spain, the U.S., France, Germany, Sweden, England, Japan, and Australia.

The most likely semi-finalists are the U.S., Sweden, Germany, and France. The most likely final is the U.S. against Germany, followed by the U.S. against France, England, Australia, and Brazil.
