Peter Drury joins Sky Sports to cover Premier League games
Beginning with the 2023–24 season, renowned sports commentator Peter Drury is expected to join Sky Sports as a part of their coverage of the Premier League. This action follows Martin Tyler’s resignation, who was crucial to Sky’s coverage of the league from its creation in 1992 until his departure. Drury has worked in TV and radio for more than 30 years, and he adds a lot of knowledge and a distinctive lyrical approach to his commentary.
Following the announcement of his hiring, Peter Drury released a statement in which he expressed his great joy at joining Sky Sports. The pinnacle of his career, according to him, was getting to work on the finest Premier League games with a broadcaster who has been telling the league’s tale since its beginning.
The head of football at Sky Sports, Gary Hughes, extended a cordial welcome to Peter Drury. Hughes highlighted Drury’s ability to offer a ton of energy, excitement, and award-winning broadcasting expertise to Sky Sports’ unmatched coverage of the Premier League while acknowledging his reputation as one of the game’s most lyrical pundits.
Peter Drury has established himself as one of the industry’s most well-respected pundits after working for illustrious broadcasters including the BBC, ITV, Premier League Productions, and BT Sport. Over the course of his more than three decades-long career, he has won countless awards for his remarkable commentary abilities.
In three of the previous four seasons, Drury was named Football Supporters’ Association Commentator of the Year. In 2020, Drury was named Sports Journalists’ Association Sports Commentator of the Year.
Peter Drury will continue to give commentary for NBC’s coverage of the Premier League in the United States in addition to his duties with Sky Sports.
