The Premier League results from this weekend were interesting:
Bournemouth 1-3 Chelsea
Frank Lampard was finally able to relieve he and the team off the pressure they have been under lately due to poor performances. At the Vitality Stadium, Chelsea scored first, through a goal by Conor Gallagher. Later into the game, Matias Vina pulled one back for the home side. During the second half, both teams tried to take the lead but seemed difficult.
However, late in game, Chelsea scored 2 goals within four minutes to make it 3-1. Badiashile and Joao Felix’s goals sealed the much needed win for Chelsea. Chelsea is 11th on the table with 42 points while Bournemouth is 14th with 39 points, 9 points off the relegation. They need at least a draw from their remaining games to be totally safe. Chelsea on the other hand has missed a spot in Europe.
Manchester City 2-1 Leeds United
This game was not a high scoring one, nevertheless, City completely dominated Leeds with a possesion of 81% at full-time. Ultimately, it was Gundogan’s brace that earned City the 3 points which puts them on top of the table with one point over Arsenal and still have a game in hand. Leeds sits 17th on top of the Premier League table with 30 points, just 1 point difference between 19th place Everton who has a game in hand. Leeds United have a slight chance of remaining in the Premier League as they still have to play Newcastle and Tottenham.

Tottenham 1-0 Crystal Palace
Harry Kane’s late goal just before halt-time was sufficient to give Tottenham all three points. Palace did give Spurs a tough and even had more attempts on target, 3 than Spurs’ 2. Palace’s place on the table looks very safe as they are 12th with 40 points. Spurs on the hand is still fighting for a place in Europe. They are 5th now with 57 points, six points behind 4th place Manchester United who has a game in hand.
Wolves 1-0 Aston Villa
Wolves were able to bounce back to a hard fought win after being humiliated last week by Brighton 6-0. Aston Villa is also fighting hard to gain a European qualification but Wolves has put them in far stretch from a qualifying spot. Toti Gomes’ goal in the opening 9 minutes was what Wolves clinched on to get a win.
Liverpool 1-0 Brentford
Klopp’s side have been doing an incredible work lately as they having working their way up the table well. Although the opportunity to be in the to four is not in their hands, they are in strong contention to make. Their game against Brentford was a tough as the Bees tried everything possible to keep Liverpool at Bay. Regardless, it took Salah’s first half strike to make a concrete difference. Now, The Reds are 5th, just one point behind Manchester United who has a game in hand, and still have Chelsea to play. Should Liverpool keep their form and if either Newcastle or Manchester United drop points, they will take full advantage of the opportunity.
Newcastle United 0-2 Arsenal
Newcastle were not able to continue their incredible run against Arsenal as Odegaard’s goal and Schar’s own goal gave the Gunners a triumph. The Saints were not idle though, as Ramsdale had to pull of outstanding saves to keep them at bay. Arsenal still sits second behind Manchester City with a point difference, but the Citizens have a game in hand. Newcastle also remain at 3rd, 2 points ahead of Manchester United.
West Ham 1-0 Manchester United
Manchester United continued their abysmal home record following a poor performance from De Gea who allowed a feeble shot from Benrahma get past him in the first half. Despite totaling 19 shots, The Red Devils were unable to make an impact, although they hit the woodwork. United has now missed the chance to go past Newcastle United and are still fighting to be in the top 4. As things stand now, being in the top 4 is totally in their hands.
This evening, the remaining three fixtures of the Premier League will take place:
Fulham vs Leicester City
Brighton vs Everton
Nottingham Forest vs Southampton
Out of the six teams to play, four of them are relegation threatened who would give it all to win their respective games. Let us see how the results will turn out.
