Premier League: West Ham vs Chelsea live
Preview
This Saturday, West Ham United and Chelsea will face off in an electrifying match-up at London Stadium. The Hammers are eager to earn back-to-back home wins for the first time since October, while the Blues are determined to break their eight-game away winless streak. Kick-off is at 12:30 pm (GMT).
West Ham United have enjoyed a resurgence in 2023; the Hammers have managed to climb out of the relegation zone, having won three and drawn two of their opening six games of the year. With two all-important London derbies against Chelsea and Tottenham upcoming, the Hammers will be hoping to continue their impressive form. However, the club have suffered in recent years against city rivals, losing eight of the last ten London derbies, and four of the last five meetings with Chelsea. Nevertheless, West Ham can draw on their last victory against the Blues in December 2021, when they won 3-2.
Chelsea have recently splurged an impressive £300m in the transfer window, but have been unable to capitalise on the investment in terms of results yet. The Blues have managed a meagre two wins in their last twelve Premier League fixtures, causing them to drift to ninth in the standings and putting their Champions League ambitions in serious jeopardy. With seven goals across the same twelve matches, their attacking threat has been below par when compared to other sides in the league. Nevertheless, Chelsea will be looking for a confidence boost when they face West Ham, having scored in each of their last six meetings, and are seeking a run of three successive victories over the Hammers for the first time since April 2011.
Head-to-Head
Chelsea have won four of their last five meetings with West Ham; the Hammers have recorded just one win in that span.
Prediction
Chelsea will be looking to carry on their impressive form against West Ham on Saturday while displaying the quality they are known for but have yet to showcase. West Ham, on the other hand, are hoping to get a positive result to keep them out of the relegation zone. It will be an incredibly competitive game with the Blues likely to secure a decisive victory.
