PSG News Latest: Kylian Mbappe will not be joining PSG’s squad for their pre-season tour in Asia, as there are rumors that the club is looking to sell him.
The relationship between Mbappe and PSG has been strained ever since the French forward announced last month that he will not be extending his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the following season, potentially allowing him to leave Paris without a transfer fee.
The President of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, has stated that they will not allow him to leave without a fee, considering the significant amount of money they spent to acquire him.
Reports suggest that PSG will now make the 24-year-old available for sale, as they believe he has already reached an agreement to join Real Madrid for free next year. PSG representatives have not responded to Reuters’ request for comment as of Friday.
PSG have been dominant in Ligue 1, winning nine out of the last 11 titles. However, both the team and Mbappe have been disappointed with their performances in the Champions League. Despite significant investments in the squad, PSG has never won the prestigious trophy. This year, they were eliminated in the round of 16 by Bayern Munich, failing to score in both legs.
Mbappe, who was injured for the first leg, expressed frustration at their inability to make an impact in the second leg. Neymar, another high-profile player rumored to leave the club, has been included in coach Luis Enrique’s squad for the upcoming match against Al Nassr, led by Cristiano Ronaldo, in Japan.
PSG will also face Cerezo Osaka from the Japanese league and Inter Milan from Serie A before traveling to South Korea to play against Jeonbuk Motors.
