PSG News Latest: Lionel Messi could soon be back in action for PSG
Lionel Messi has resumed training with Paris St. Germain, the Ligue 1 club said on Monday. The forward had been suspended for skipping a training session due to a trip to Saudi Arabia.
Messi, who was due to train with the team the day following the Ligue 1 leaders’ 3-1 loss to Lorient last month, was reportedly penalised for two weeks after taking an illegal trip to Saudi Arabia.
The PSG team won 3-1 against second-bottom Troyes on Sunday without Messi, who had apologised to PSG and his teammates on Friday.
PSG posted a picture of Messi training on social media, along with the caption: “The Argentinian striker from Paris Saint-Germain was back in training on Monday 8 May.”
With four more rounds of games left in the season, PSG is eight points ahead of Olympique de Marseille and six points ahead of Lens. Recent days have seen a lot of conjecture over Messi’s future at PSG. According to a source close to the Argentine captain, who will turn 36 next month, the World Cup winner has received a formal offer to play for Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal next season, as a contract extension at PSG is not in the cards for him.
The oil-rich country named Messi its tourism ambassador last year, and in May 2022, he paid a visit to Jeddah. In January, he made a comeback to take part in a friendly match with PSG against a squad of Saudi League notables, where he was pitted against his archrival Cristiano Ronaldo.
