Real Madrid News Latest: Modric will not get to play in the Copa del Rey final due to injury concerns

With a thigh injury, Luka Modric is out for their Copa del Rey final match against Osasuna on May 6, according to manager Carlo Ancelotti.

In Real’s 4-2 loss to Girona, Modric played for just over an hour before being replaced.

“He had an injury in the match against Girona and is out of action,” Ancelotti told reporters ahead of this weekend’s LaLiga game against Almeria.

“It’s pending evolution and we don’t know if he will be fit for the Copa match. We are hurt and we hope he can recover soon to play in the important matches”.

Which games could Luka Modric miss?

Modric will miss Real Madrid’s league midweek encounter with Real Sociedad. Real Madrid will also face Osasuna in the final of the copa del rey.

The match is on May 6, but Ancelotti’s group will attempt to get through it without Modric. The first leg of the Champions League semifinal vs City is the following match.

Modric is obviously seeking to return for that match because the club has not ruled him out. However, it will be a really difficult task, and City may benefit from his absence.

Who will replace Luka Modric?

Ancelotti hinted that he had Aurelien Tchouameni, Eduardo Camavinga and Dani Ceballos as viable options, with the latter being the most suitable option.

All three will get a chance to show that they can take over for Modric.
