Real Madrid News Latest: The controversial red card that was handed to Vinicius for his altercation with Hugo Duro has been overturned by the RFEF
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced on Tuesday that Vinicius Jr, will not face suspension despite being shown a red card during Sunday’s LaLiga game against Valencia. During the match, Vinicius Jr was subjected to racial abuse. Referee Ricardo de Burgos Bengoetxea sent him off in stoppage time for hitting an opponent after a scuffle with Valencia players, during which Vinicius Jr seemed to have been grabbed around the neck.
Earlier, Vinicius was subjected to racial discrimination by supporters at the Mestalla Stadium. This resulted in the game being paused for 10 minutes while the player identified the individuals who were mistreating him in the crowd.
“The RFEF Competition Committee considers that the referee’s assessment was determined by the omission of the entirety of the play that took place, which affected the refereeing decision.”
“The fact that he (the referee) was deprived of a decisive part of the facts led him to adopt an arbitrary decision. And this is because it was impossible for him to properly assess what happened.”
Valencia get five-match partial stand closure
Valencia’s south stand will be partially closed for five matches and the club will be fined 45,000 euros due to the racist abuse that Vinicius Jr experienced during Sunday’s game, according to the RFEF.
Spanish police detained seven individuals on Tuesday for various hate crimes against Vinicius Jr, including hurling racist slurs at him during the match at Valencia’s Mestalla stadium. The game was paused for 10 minutes as Vinicius Jr identified the fans who were abusing him. He was later involved in a dispute with Valencia’s players, resulting in his dismissal in the second half.

“It is considered proven that there were racist shouts at Vinicius during the aforementioned match. A financial penalty of 45,000 euros is imposed on Valencia,” the Competition Committee of the RFEF said in a statement.
Carlo Ancelotti also stated on Tuesday that he anticipates the Brazilian forward to continue playing for the Spanish club, despite being subjected to racist insults in multiple LaLiga games.
