Robert Sanchez Joins Chelsea in £25 Million Deal from Brighton

Chelsea Football Club has completed the signing of goalkeeper Robert Sanchez from Brighton & Hove Albion.

The 25-year-old Spaniard has signed a seven-year contract with the Premier League club.

The transfer fee for Sanchez is reported to be in the region of £25 million ($31.7 million), and he is expected to provide strong competition for Chelsea’s current No. 1 goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga. Edouard Mendy, who held the starting position for the Stamford Bridge club last season, recently joined Saudi Pro League club Al Ahli in June.

Sanchez’s move to Chelsea comes after he was not included in Brighton’s pre-season tour to the United States and lost his place as the first-choice goalkeeper under manager Roberto De Zerbi, with Jason Steele taking over the role.

Last season, Sanchez featured in 23 Premier League matches before being replaced in the starting XI in March. The Spanish goalkeeper is highly regarded for his performances in the top-flight.

Chelsea’s transfer activity has been noteworthy this summer, with the club securing several signings, including Christopher Nkunku, Nicolas Jackson, Lesley Ugochukwu, and Angelo Gabriel. The Blues are also set to add Monaco defender Axel Disasi to their ranks.

With the addition of Robert Sanchez, Chelsea’s goalkeeping department gains valuable experience and depth, ensuring that manager Mauricio Pochettino has solid options between the posts for the upcoming season.
