Ex-Celtic manager Ronny Deila takes charge at Club Brugge

Published on:

Ronny Deila, a former manager of Celtic, has been announced as the new coach for Club Brugge in the Jupiler Pro League starting next season. The Norwegian will be replacing interim coach Rik De Mil, who has been leading the team since the dismissal of Scott Parker in March. Deila is currently with Standard Liege.

Parker, who held the position for only 12 games, was fired following their defeat of 7-1 overall by Benfica in the last 16 of the Champions League.

From 2014 to 2016, Deila was the manager of Celtic and successfully guided the team to win two Scottish titles and a League Cup. He later joined New York City FC in 2020 and led them to win the Major League Soccer Cup in the following year.

However, despite qualifying for the Championship round in the Pro League, Brugge is currently in last place with 33 points before the final two rounds.
