Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s departure from PSV comes as a shock because he has performed incredibly well

The coach of PSV Eindhoven, Ruud van Nistelrooy, has resigned due to a lack of support from management and rumors of a player rebellion. Despite leading the team to a victory in the Dutch Cup final and a possible spot in the Champions League next season, Van Nistelrooy has left the club after discussions with management. PSV confirmed his departure after reports of player complaints about his coaching style and tactics.

Initially, it was proposed that the two groups would have further discussions after the conclusion of the Dutch season on Sunday. However, Van Nistelrooy submitted his resignation on Wednesday morning. PSV expressed their disappointment in a statement.

“Head coach Ruud van Nistelrooy announced this morning that he is leaving PSV,” the club said.

“PSV regrets his decision and is grateful to him for winning the Johan Cruijff Shield and the Dutch Cup, and hopes to finish the season in second place.”

The assistant coach, Fred Rutten, will be in charge of the team’s last league game against AZ Alkmaar. If they earn a point, they will secure second place and a spot in the Champions League for the next season, which would prevent Ajax from qualifying.

Van Nistelrooy, a former Manchester United player, became the coach of PSV at the beginning of this season after Roger Schmidt left. However, they were eliminated from the Champions League by Rangers in the play-off round.

Despite winning the Dutch Cup final against Ajax on penalties last month, there was tension between the coach and players, and reports suggested that he had a strained relationship with assistants Rutten and Andre Ooijer.
