Sofyan Amrabat opens up on a potential transfer this summer

Sofyan Amrabat, a transfer target for top European clubs such as Manchester United, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid, has expressed a potential change of heart regarding his future with Fiorentina.

The midfielder made his remarks after playing in Fiorentina’s impressive 4-0 victory over Grosseto in a preseason friendly.

Amrabat had a significant effect on the game, entering in the second half and helping the side win thanks to goals from Josip Brekalo, Arthur Melo, Abdelhamid Sabiri, and Luka Jovic. The midfielder was questioned about his likely exit from Fiorentina by news agency ANSA after the game.

“I don’t know, I could remain,” Amrabat responded ambiguously to the reporters, leaving fans and football pundits alike in suspense about his future plans.

Amrabat’s ambiguous position is unexpected given the intense competition for his services among several European clubs. Fiorentina has yet to receive a bid that matches their €30 million asking price for the outstanding midfielder, despite rumors of a summer transfer. Manchester United is rumored to be interested in signing him, but the English team is strapped for cash and must sell players to pay for any new additions.

Fiorentina is not currently under any pressure to sell Amrabat, but if a sizable offer comes in during the next several weeks, the club may change its mind. Amrabat’s current deal extends until June 2024 with an option for another year.

Amrabat, who is 27 years old, is at a pivotal point in his career and has caught the attention of Al-Ahli of the Saudi Pro League. The midfielder’s choice, it seems, is to continue his career in Europe, which heightens the mystery surrounding his future.
