Asamoah Gyan made his international debut against Somalia when he was just 17 years old, beginning his path to becoming Ghana’s all-time leading scorer. Gyan scored an incredible 51 goals in 109 appearances for Ghana during the course of his career. With this accomplishment, he surpasses Edward Acquah by six goals and now holds the record for most goals scored in Ghanaian football history.

Africa’s all-time leading scorer in the World Cup

Gyan’s influence was seen on a worldwide scale, especially during the FIFA World Cup. Gyan has scored six goals in the competition’s history, making him Africa’s all-time leading scorer. First Player to score in 9 consecutive international tournaments

Asamoah Gyan made football history as he became the first player to ever score in nine straight competitions. Gyan has demonstrated his scoring skill on the grandest stages, beginning with his World Cup debut in 2006 and continuing until the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. As at now, he no longer holds the record, with Portugal’s Cristiano Ronaldo surpassing this feat in 2021 and further at the 2022 World Cup.
