Tottenham News Latest: Spurs to refund fans’ ticket cost to Newcastle’s game

Tottenham Hotspur players have promised to refund fans for the cost of their tickets to Newcastle’s 6-1 thrashing.

The team issued an unusual public statement about the ‘pain’ they felt at St. James’ Park. As a result, interim manager Cristian Stellini was fired, and Spurs’ Champions League ambitions were severely harmed.

Tottenham trailed 5-0 after just 21 minutes and eventually lost 6-1, their worst defeat since 2013. At half-time, fans were seen leaving the St James’ away end, and a statement has now been released to those who went north for the game.

It reads: “As a squad, we understand your frustration, your anger. It wasn’t good enough. “We know words aren’t enough in situations like this but believe us, a defeat like this hurts.

“We appreciate your support, home and away, and with this in mind we would like to reimburse fans with the cost of their match tickets from St James’ Park.

“We know this does not change what happened on Sunday and we will give everything to put things right against Manchester United on Thursday evening when, again, your support will mean everything to us. Together and only together can we move things forward.”
