Tottenham News Latest: Ryan Sessegnon has successfully undergone a hamstring surgery and will miss the team’s preseason tour in his recuperation process

Tottenham Hotspur’s Ryan Sessegnon will be sidelined for the club’s upcoming pre-season tour following surgery on a hamstring injury. The 23-year-old left-back has faced ongoing issues with his hamstring and suffered a recurrence of the injury during pre-season training.

In a statement, Tottenham stated that the operation on Sessegnon’s left hamstring was successful, and there is hope that it will provide a permanent solution to his persistent hamstring problems. However, no timeline has been provided for his recovery.

This news comes as a setback for head coach Ange Postecoglou, who had hoped to assess Sessegnon’s fitness and performance ahead of the new season. Sessegnon joined Tottenham in 2019 after a breakthrough at Fulham, but injuries have limited his playing time. Last season, he made only 23 appearances across all competitions.

Sessegnon’s absence will require the team to rely on other options in the left-back position. Tottenham has a ready-made replacement for Sessegnon in the form of Destiny Udogie, who spent the 2022-23 season on loan at Udinese and is looking to make his mark at the club. Both players have excelled as wing-backs, but manager Ange Postecoglou is expected to revert to a 4-3-3 system at Tottenham.

Tottenham’s pre-season schedule includes friendly matches against West Ham United, Leicester City, and Roma before their charity friendly against Shakhtar Donetsk on August 6. The team will kick off their Premier League campaign against Brentford on August 13.
