Premier League: West Ham vs Liverpool preview and live stream

Preview

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool travel away to the capital to take on West Ham United on Wednesday night. The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:45 pm(GMT) with Chris Kavanagh in charge as center referee. Enjoying a good run of form in what has been a difficult season for the Hammers, David Moyes’ side should be well motivated to fight for all three points against a very good Liverpool side. With back-to-back wins against Leeds United and Nottingham Forest, the Merseyside boys should be confident of a third successive win in as many games.

West Ham United sit 14th in the league with 34 points after 31 matches. The side from East London are without defeat in each of their last five matches, winning three and twelve over the period. In their last outing, the Hammers trashed Bournemouth 4-0 at the Vitality Stadium with a goal each from Michail Antonio, Lucas Paqueta, Declan Rice and Pablo Fornals. Fighting for their seventh home win of the season, three points today will be important as they hope to avoid a late relegation battle.

The Reds sit 7th in the league with 50 points after 31 matches, nine points off the Champions League places. Struggling to perform at their highest potential, Liverpool have enjoyed highs and lows in equal measure this season as they hope to stage a late push for a top four spot. With two wins, two draws and a defeat in their last five matches, Jurgen Klopp’s side have more than what it takes to secure all three points in Wednesday’s match.

Head-to-head

The last five meetings between these two sides have seen four wins for the Reds and a win for West Ham. Their last meeting was in the reverse fixture of today’s game back in October, with Darwin Nunez’ first half strike securing all three points for Liverpool. Jarrod Bowen missed a penalty to secure a point for the Hammers.

Prediction

West Ham United are expected to fight for all three points in today’s match considering how the Premier League table is shaping up at the bottom half. With the exception of Gianluca Scamacca, manager David Moyes has the luxury of a full squad to select the best starting IX to win today’s match. Liverpool on the other hand have the quality and experience to cause damage in today’s match at the London Stadium. Goals should be scored at both ends with a win for Liverpool the most probable outcome.
