Wilfried Zaha: Galatasaray Completes Signing of Zaha After Crystal Palace Exit

Published on:

Galatasaray has officially completed the signing of former Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

The 30-year-old has agreed to a three-year deal with the Turkish club after his contract with Crystal Palace expired in June.

Zaha, who joined Palace’s academy at the age of 12, made his senior debut in 2010 and went on to become a key player for the club. Across his two spells at Selhurst Park, he made an impressive 458 appearances, scoring 90 goals and providing 76 assists. He holds the record for the most goals scored by a Palace player in Premier League history (68) and has been named Palace’s Player of the Season three times.

In his farewell message to the Palace fans, Zaha expressed his gratitude for the journey he had with the club and thanked Steve Parish, his teammates, coaches, and the entire fanbase for their unwavering support throughout the years.

Galatasaray confirmed the signing and disclosed the financial details of the deal. Zaha will receive a signing-on fee of 2.35 million euros (£2 million) and an annual salary of 4.35 million euros (£3.75 million).

Zaha’s move to Galatasaray marks the end of his long and successful tenure with Crystal Palace. Despite being linked with moves away from the club in the past, Zaha remained a vital asset for the Eagles, captaining the side on several occasions last season before a hamstring injury forced him to miss the final two matches.

With Zaha’s departure, Crystal Palace will begin the 2023-24 Premier League season without one of their most prominent figures. As they gear up to face newly promoted Sheffield United in their opening game, the club’s faithful will bid farewell to the winger who left an indelible mark on the club’s history.
