Wolves vs Arsenal Review
Arsenal secured their eighth consecutive Premier League victory by defeating Wolves 1-0 at Molineux in a tumultuous match that saw both teams down to 10 players. The home side missed an early opportunity after 10 minutes when Nélson Semedo raced down the wing and delivered a superb cross to Pablo Sarabia, who misfired his volley just wide. Arsenal’s best chances came from Kai Havertz, who narrowly missed with his first header and had his second header saved by José Sá’s outstretched leg, both set up by excellent crosses from Leandro Trossard. However, just before halftime, Arsenal faced a setback when Myles Lewis-Skelly was sent off for a foul on Matt Doherty.
Nevertheless, Arsenal began the second half stronger, with Declan Rice testing Sá with a powerful shot. It took Wolves an hour to register their first shot on target, as Hwang Hee-chan tried his luck from long range against David Raya. From that point on, the home team began to take control with their numerical advantage, prompting Raya to save a deflected shot from Arsenal target Matheus Cunha, who later shot just wide from the ensuing corner. However, the game was equalized when João Gomes received a second yellow card for a rough tackle, allowing Arsenal to take advantage just four minutes later.
Substitute Riccardo Calafiori scored with a half-volley that found the bottom corner. Wolves sought an equalizer in the closing moments, with Rayan Aït-Nouri and Cunha both forcing saves from Raya, but Arsenal managed to secure three vital points to stay in the title race. Meanwhile, Wolves have now gone five league matches without a win, while Arsenal achieved their first clean sheet in 11 away league games.
