CONMEBOL World Cup Qualifiers: Brazil vs Columbia live

Preview

Friday gives us a thrilling encounter between two of South America’s giants as Brazil host Columbia in Sao Paolo at the Neo Quimica Arena for their World Cup qualifiers at 12:30am GMT.

The hosts, Brazil, sit first place on the standings for the World Cup qualifiers, unbeaten in all their eleven games, winning ten games and drawing a game. This means they have a total of 31 points from the possible 33 points. This is really impressive, considering they have played against the likes of Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay.

Columbia on the other hand sit fourth after gaining sixteen points from the twelve games played, winning three games, drawing seven games and losing two games. The away side have won just one of their last six World Cup qualifiers games and drew five games.

Head-to-Head

Out of the fourteen times both teams have faced each other, Brazil have won six games with Columbia winning a game and both teams playing out a stalemate seven times.

Prediction

Brazil need just one point to secure at least a playoff spot, so I believe they will want to continue their unbeaten streak at Sao Paolo. Though the visitors have some quality in their ranks, I don’t think it will be enough to stop the Brazilian superstars. Columbia might get on the score sheet but Tite’s fluid attack will outscore the away side.

Lineup

Brazil XI: Alisson; Danilo, Silva, Marquinhos, Sandro; Casemiro, Fred, Paqueta; Neymar, Raphinha, Jesus

Colombia XI: Ospina; Mojica, Sanchez, Tesillo, Munoz; Moreno, Barrios, Lerma; Diaz, Zapata, Cuadrado
