The last five competitive meetings between Ghana and South Africa have seen each side win one, with three ending in draws. Their last meeting was in the reverse fixture of this World Cup qualifiers in September where South Africa beat Ghana 1-0 in Johannesburg, by way of a Bongokuhle Hlongwane 83rd minute strike.

Ghana will be desperate for a 3-point in Sunday’s game. After losing two points in their draw to Ethiopia, the only way out is to beat South Africa at Cape Coast and by a two goal margin. Bafana Bafana have been solid defensively throughout the group stages. With just one goal conceded, the South Africans will be happy to maintain their impressive defensive record when they face Ghana. A win or draw for the Black Stars could be the most probable outcome.
