The conclusion of La Liga on Sunday was enjoyable, as Barcelona emerged as champions and Real Madrid came in second place, while Real Valladolid and Espanyol were ultimately relegated alongside Elche. As a result, it is now appropriate to look at the players who topped the rankings in Spain’s top division for the 2022-23 season.

Pichichi Award( Top scorer) – Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona) 

Barcelona and Polish striker, Robert Lewandowski, has won the Golden Boot award for La Liga at the end of his first season. Despite not scoring in a 2-1 defeat against Celta Vigo, the 34-year-old managed to score 23 goals in 34 league games throughout the season. Lewandowski finished with four more goals than Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema, who had a difficult season due to injuries and only managed to score 19 goals in 24 games. Additionally, he finished seven goals ahead of Espanyol’s Joselu Marto.

Lewandowski achieved the Pichichi award without scoring any penalties, making him the first player to do so since Dani Guiza in the 2007-08 season. In the previous season, Benzema was awarded the prize for scoring 27 goals, which put an end to Lionel Messi’s five-year reign of dominance.

Zamora Trophy( Golden Glove) – Marc Andre  Ter Stergen (Barcelona)

Marc-André ter Stegen has won the Zamora Trophy for the first time in his career, having conceded the fewest goals in the league season. He only let in 18 goals in 38 matches, with an average of 0.473 goals per game, and achieved 26 clean sheets, matching the record set by Paco Liaño in 1993/94. Additionally, his average of 0.473 goals per game is also a record, equaling the marks set by Jan Oblak and Liaño.

After a couple of disappointing seasons, Ter Stegen has once again established himself as one of Europe’s top goalkeepers by far leading La Liga with most vlean sheets and the least number of goals conceded. This award holds a significant meaning for the German player, as it is the first time he has received it during his time at Barça since joining in May 2014. He has performed exceptionally well this season and played a crucial role in the team’s success in winning the league title.

Top Assister – Antoine Griezman (Atletico Madrid)

Antoine Griezman has won the top assister award for the 2022-23 La Liga season as he provided 16 assists to win the award. The Frenchman spearheaded Atletico Madrid’s attack as they finished the season at third place scoring the second most goals in the league. Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino alongside Real Madrid’s Vinicius Junior both came in at second place with both players providing 9 assists each. Last season’s top assister was fellow Frenchman Ousmane Dembele, who due to limited minutes finished this season with 7 assists.
