Ligue 1 Roundup, Matchday 26

Matchday 26 of the 2024/25 Ligue 1 season has just wrapped up, featuring exciting matches and impressive performances. Here is the Ligue 1 Roundup from this round of games.

OGC Nice 1-1 Auxerre

Nice extended their unbeaten streak to six home matches against Auxerre (with four wins and two draws), but they will feel frustrated after allowing a late equalizer that resulted in a 1-1 draw in Ligue 1, which kept them from matching second-placed Marseille’s points total.

Nantes 1-0 Lille

Mostafa Mohamed scored a late goal to secure a 1-0 victory for Nantes against Lille, who are aiming for European qualification, at Stade de la Beaujoire. This win marked the end of Nantes’ streak of 11 matches without a clean sheet. With this second win in four games, Nantes has moved six points ahead of the relegation zone as they strive to remain in the top division.

Angers 0-2 Monaco

Monaco triumphed over a determined Angers SCO defense, winning 2-0 at the Stade Raymond Kopa and handing Le SCO their third consecutive league loss. Monaco managed to maintain their lead throughout the match, achieving an important win that solidifies their position in the top 4.

RC Lens 1-0 Rennes

RC Lens extended their unbeaten streak to 10 matches against Rennes (5 wins, 5 draws) since their return to Ligue 1 in 2020, securing a 1-0 victory at Stade Bollaert-Delelis and breaking a streak of two consecutive home losses. Although they won, Lens still sits in eighth place in the standings, but they will approach the eagerly awaited Derby du Nord against Lille with renewed confidence after the international break.

Lyon 4-2 Le Havre

Lyon rallied to achieve a 4-2 win against Le Havre at the Groupama Stadium, putting an end to Le Club Doyen’s three-match unbeaten streak on the road (with two wins and one draw). The home team managed to maintain their lead and claim all three points, keeping them just two points behind the top four in Ligue 1.

Strasbourg 2-1 Toulouse

Strasbourg rallied to win 2-1 against Toulouse at Stade de la Meinau, marking their ninth win in the last 13 Ligue 1 matches and keeping them close to the top six. The home team managed the final moments effectively to secure another victory, moving up to just one position and one point away from the European spots.

Montpellier vs St Etienne

The match was abandoned because of riots among the spectators.

Brest 0-0 Reims

Brest and Reims ended their match in a 0-0 stalemate at the Stade Francis-Le Blé, prolonging Les Rouges et Blancs’ frustrating streak without a win in regular time to 14 games across all competitions (6 draws, 8 losses). However, this single point does not significantly improve Brest’s standing in the league, as the teams directly above them have distanced themselves following their wins this weekend. On the other hand, Reims remains near the relegation zone, now only two points ahead of Le Havre in 15th place.

PSG 3-1 Marseille

Paris Saint-Germain achieved a 3-1 victory over Marseille, continuing their pursuit of the Ligue 1 title and marking their fifth straight win in Le Classique. This victory also marked PSG’s seventh consecutive win in Ligue 1, increasing their lead over second-place Marseille to 19 points. Additionally, this loss was particularly tough for Les Olympiens, as it was their third defeat in the last four matches, following a stretch where they had only lost one of their previous 11 league games.
