La Liga Roundup, Matchday 13

Matchday 13 of the 2025/26 La Liga season has concluded, featuring exciting matches, remarkable player performances, and surprising outcomes. Here is an overview of this set of La Liga games.

Valencia 1-0 Levante

Hugo Duro’s spectacular bicycle kick secured a valuable 1-0 win for Valencia against their city rivals Levante, breaking their seven-game winless streak in La Liga and relieving some pressure on coach Carlos Corberán. Corberán’s team managed to hold their lead, moving up to 15th place in the league and extending their unbeaten home head-to-head record against Levante to 20 matches, while Levante continue to stay stuck in the relegation zone.

Alaves 0-1 Celta Vigo

Alavés have only managed to defeat RC Celta de Vigo once in their last 10 head-to-head matches, following a 1-0 home loss to Los Celestes. This victory allowed Celta to move ahead of Alavés into 12th place. Celta got back to winning after Barcelona ended their eight-game unbeaten streak just before the international break.

Barcelona 4-0 Athletic Bilbao

Barcelona defeated Athletic Bilbao 4-0, continuing their unbeaten run against them in La Liga to 12 matches (10 wins and 2 draws). This match also represented Athletic’s fifth straight away game this season without a win (1 draw and 4 losses). Barcelona have not been beaten at home by Athletic in the league since November 2001, accumulating 21 wins and 3 draws since then. This latest victory, their sixth home win this season, was achieved at their third different home stadium (Camp Nou, Estadi Johan Cruyff, and Estadi Lluis Companys).

Osasuna 1-3 Sociedad

Following only one victory in their initial eight games this season, Real Sociedad have now gone six matches unbeaten in all competitions (4 wins, 2 draws) after rallying from behind to secure a 3-1 victory over CA Osasuna at El Sadar Stadium. Sergio Francisco’s Sociedad team appears to have found their rhythm and improved their performance, with European qualification spots within reach. On the other hand, Osasuna remain just above the relegation zone on goal difference.

Villarreal 2-1 Mallorca

Villarreal will finish November in the top four after a tough 2-1 victory against Mallorca, securing their fourth consecutive win in La Liga and bringing them just 3 points behind league leaders Real Madrid. Mallorca suffered their fifth away loss in six league matches this season and have dropped to 16th place. In the upcoming La Liga round, they will face a crucial relegation battle at home against 17th-placed Osasuna.

Oviedo 0-0 Rayo Vallecano

Real Oviedo’s winless streak in La Liga has reached six matches (three draws and three losses) after they managed a 0-0 draw against Rayo Vallecano at the Estadio Nuevo Carlos Tartiere, even though they played most of the second half with only 10 players. Luis Carrión has now gone 14 consecutive La Liga games without a victory while managing both Oviedo and Las Palmas, becoming only the second coach in the league’s history to experience such a run.

Betis 1-1 Girona

Fifteen minutes before the end, Valentín Gómez scored an equalizer, allowing Real Betis to secure a 1-1 draw in their La Liga match against Girona. This result prevented the Blanquivermells from achieving consecutive top-division victories and prolonged their winless streak in away league games this season (three draws, three losses). Girona missed out on back-to-back wins and clean sheets, having conceded the most goals in the league with 25, and they continue to stay in the relegation zone.

Getafe 1-0 Atletico Madrid

Diego Simeone’s Atlético Madrid team struggled but ultimately secured a late goal to continue their impressive run, achieving a 1-0 win against La Liga rivals Getafe. Although it wasn’t the most attractive victory, this fifth consecutive league win means Atlético has now suffered only one defeat in their last 11 matches.

Real Madrid twice overcame deficits to earn a 2-2 draw against Elche at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero. This result extends Los Franjiverdes’ winless streak to six games, and they finished the match with only 10 players after Víctor Chust was shown a second yellow card for pulling Mbappé’s shirt.

Espanyol returned to winning form in La Liga following two consecutive losses, securing a 2-1 victory over Sevilla with goals from Pere Milla and Roberto Fernandez Jaen. Manolo Gonzalez’s team took all three points, keeping them in contention for European qualification despite a late comeback attempt by Sevilla. This win moved Espanyol up to sixth place in the La Liga standings, while Sevilla suffered their third consecutive away defeat, falling to 11th place, five points behind Espanyol in the race for European spots.
