La Liga Roundup, Matchday 14
The 14th round of the 2025/26 La Liga season has come to an end, showcasing thrilling matches, outstanding player displays, and unexpected results. Here is a summary of this series of La Liga fixtures.
Getafe 1-0 Elche
Getafe ended their losing streak in La Liga by defeating Elche 1-0 at the Estadio Coliseum, securing only their second victory in six head-to-head encounters against them. The Azulones stay in seventh position after achieving just their third home league win in 12 matches, while closing in on the teams occupying the European qualification spots above them.
Mallorca 2-2 Osasuna
Flavien Boyomo netted a last-minute equalizer in the 92nd minute as Osasuna came back from a two-goal deficit to secure a 2-2 draw against RCD Mallorca at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix. This marked the 11th draw in 16 LaLiga head-to-head matches between these teams. Although Osasuna have yet to win an away game in the 2025/26 season, this result will likely be seen as a moral boost for the visitors.
Barcelona 3-1 Alaves
Barcelona achieved a 3-1 win against Deportivo Alavés in La Liga, reclaiming first place in the league standings and recording their eighth triumph in the last nine matches between the two teams. This loss marks Alavés’ fifth defeat away from home this season, with the team having collected less than a third of their total points on the road. At the same time, Hansi Flick’s squad earned their fourth straight league win, keeping the pressure on Real Madrid, who are now a point behind.

Levante 0-2 Athletic Bilbao
Athletic Bilbao broke an eight-game winless streak on the road with a strong 2-0 victory over Levante, extending their unbeaten streak against them in La Liga to eight matches. Although Athletic’s defense was under intense pressure in the final moments, their lead held firm, securing only their second win in seven games across all competitions.
Atletico Madrid 2-0 Oviedo
Atlético Madrid have secured seven straight victories across all competitions and have stayed undefeated since the first weekend of the La Liga season, following a 2-0 victory against bottom-ranked Real Oviedo, who have now failed to score in four consecutive matches. Atleti have achieved their 10th consecutive home win. On the other hand, Oviedo’s winless streak in all competitions has stretched beyond two months, with only seven goals scored in 14 league matches.

Sociedad 2-3 Villarreal
After Ayoze Pérez provided a goal and an assist, Alberto Moleiro netted a winning goal in the 95th minute as Villarreal held off a late surge from Real Sociedad to secure a 3-2 victory at the Reale Arena. This marked their fifth consecutive La Liga win, keeping them firmly in contention for the title. Moleiro fired a low shot from the edge of the box following a failed clearance from a corner, bringing Villarreal to just two points behind league leaders Barcelona.

Sevilla 0-2 Betis
Real Betis won the 144th official Seville derby by defeating Sevilla 2-0 at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium. This victory brought them within seven points of the top four and marked only their second win in six La Liga matches, as well as their first triumph at this stadium since January 2018. Meanwhile, Sevilla have not achieved consecutive home league wins since October 2024 and find themselves just four points above the relegation zone.
Celta Vigo 0-1 Espanyol
Kike García scored a late header to secure a 1-0 victory for RCD Espanyol against Celta Vigo at the Estadio de Balaídos, marking only their second away win in 10 LaLiga matches. This dramatic finish puts Espanyol four points ahead of Getafe in seventh place. Meanwhile, Celta’s poor home record persists, as they have yet to win a league game at home this season (5 draws, 3 losses).
Girona 1-1 Real Madrid
Girona managed a 1-1 draw against Real Madrid in La Liga, marking only their second loss in the last five games in Spain’s top league. They also stopped Los Blancos from reclaiming the top spot in the table. After 14 matchdays, Real Madrid sit just one point behind league leaders Barcelona, maintaining a thrilling title race.

Rayo Vallecano 1-1 Valencia
Valencia bounced back from a slow start to secure a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Rayo Vallecano on the road. This result extended Los Che’s winless streak away from home in the league this season to four losses and three draws. What began as a hopeful evening ended with a feeling of missed chances for the home team, while Valencia managed to move one point further away from the relegation zone despite still not achieving their first away victory in La Liga this season.
