Ligue 1 Roundup, Matchday 6
Matchday 6 of the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season has just concluded, showcasing thrilling matches and remarkable performances. Below is the Ligue 1 roundup from this round of games.
Strasbourg 1-2 Marseille
Marseille staged a late comeback to secure their first away points of the season and achieve their first head-to-head victory over Strasbourg since 2022. They won 2-1 at Stade de la Meinau, moving to 3rd place in the Ligue 1 standings. Emerson Palmieri’s header was pushed onto the crossbar by Penders, but he was unable to clear the ball, allowing Michael Murillo to follow up and score the winning goal.

Lorient 3-1 Monaco
Lorient defeated a 10-man Monaco in a tightly contested Ligue 1 match, winning 3-1 at the Stade du Moustoir. This victory ended Lorient’s streak of three games (one draw, two losses) during which they had conceded an impressive 12 goals. The win moves Lorient out of the relegation zone, while Monaco’s almost flawless start to the season was stopped by a disappointing performance.

Toulouse 2-2 Nantes
Toulouse came from behind twice to secure a respectable 2-2 draw at home against Nantes, ending a streak of three consecutive losses in Ligue 1. This marks the seventh time in the last 11 home meetings between the two teams that the match ended in a draw. With this result, Les Violets stay two points ahead of Nantes, who have only won once in Ligue 1 this season.
PSG 2-0 Auxerre
Paris Saint-Germain recovered from their loss in Le Classique on Monday by defeating AJ Auxerre 2-0, reclaiming first place in the Ligue 1 table. The visitors have now lost four consecutive away games, including two at the Parc des Princes. Luis Enrique’s side maintained their unbeaten home record across all competitions this season and extended Auxerre’s winless streak against them to since 2011.

OGC Nice 1-1 Paris
Paris FC scored a late goal to secure a draw on the road against OGC Nice in a closely contested 1-1 match, marking the first draw of the season for both teams. Moïse Bombito was penalized for a handball in the penalty area, and Jean-Philippe Krasso confidently converted the resulting penalty to guarantee each team earned a point.

Metz 0-0 Le Havre
Metz extended their winless run in Ligue 1 to 10 matches following a dull 0-0 draw at home against Le Havre. This result leaves them stuck at the bottom of the league standings, three points away from safety. The game gradually lost momentum and ended predictably, marking Le Havre’s third consecutive match without a win, keeping them just above the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Metz, who are at the bottom, have only won two of their last 14 head-to-head encounters.
Lille 0-1 Lyon
For the first time in 17 years, Lyon have started a Ligue 1 season with five wins out of six games, following a hard-fought 1-0 away win against Lille. This victory has brought them level on 15 points with the league leaders, Paris Saint-Germain. Lyon appeared more intent on preserving their narrow lead than extending it, relying on a defense that held the best record in the French top division before the weekend. Greif ensured Lyon secured their third win in four head-to-head league encounters, while Lille, currently sixth, suffered back-to-back Ligue 1 losses for the first time since last September.

Angers 0-2 Brest
Brest secured their second consecutive win by defeating Angers SCO 2-0 at the Stade Raymond Kopa, breaking a streak of five Ligue 1 away games without a victory for Les Pirates. Brest managed to maintain their lead and earned all three points, moving up to ninth place in the standings. On the other hand, Angers continued their disappointing start to the season, with Alexandre Dujeux’s team still winless since the first matchday.
Rennes 0-0 Lens
Even though they played most of the match with just 10 players, RC Lens stayed calm and managed to secure a 0-0 draw against Rennes at Roazhon Park. This result is only the second draw for the visitors in 2025 (with 12 wins and 12 losses). Earning this hard-fought point while down a player keeps Lens one point ahead of Rennes in the Ligue 1 rankings. Meanwhile, Rennes’ streak without a head-to-head victory continues, as Les Rouge et Noirs have not won against Lens since a 1-0 victory in February 2015 (6 draws, 5 losses).
