Serie A Roundup, Matchday 2
The second matchday of the 2025/26 Serie A season showcased thrilling games, surprising results, and remarkable performances from many players. This Serie A roundup provides an overview of the games from this round.
Cremonese 3-2 Sassuolo
Cremonese extended their unbeaten streak at the Stadio Giovanni Zini to eight games by securing a dramatic 3-2 victory over fellow newly-promoted Serie A team Sassuolo. The home side’s week could improve further as they are reportedly close to signing Jamie Vardy. Meanwhile, Sassuolo’s Serie A winless streak has now reached eight matches.
Lecce 0-2 AC Milan
Massimiliano Allegri secured his first victory since returning as AC Milan’s coach, as his team struggled to a 2-0 win at Stadio Via del Mare against Lecce. Lecce suffered their first defeat of the Serie A season and are still yet to score a goal.

Parma 1-1 Atalanta
Parma broke a streak of four consecutive home losses against Atalanta B.C by securing a late 1-1 draw in Serie A at the Stadio Ennio Tardini. The home team has now earned their first point of the new season, while Atalanta continue to seek their first win as they adjust to playing without Gian Piero Gasperini as their coach.
Bologna 1-0 Como
Bologna earned their first Serie A win of the season by narrowly defeating Como 1-0 at the Stadio Renato Dall’Ara. This result represents only their second win in the last 10 league games. Although the match wasn’t particularly memorable, Bologna’s coach Vincenzo Italiano will be pleased that his team quickly recovered after their opening match loss against Roma.

Pisa 0-1 AS Roma
AS Roma secured their second win and second consecutive clean sheet at the beginning of the Serie A season by narrowly defeating Pisa 1-0 at the Arena Garibaldi – Stadio Romeo Anconetani. This result extends their record to just one loss in their last 24 league matches. Gasperini couldn’t have wished for a better start and will be hopeful that his team continues to improve as they become more familiar with his playing style and philosophy.

Napoli 1-0 Cagliari
Serie A champions Napoli stretched their unbeaten streak to 14 matches, but had to fight hard for a 1-0 win against Cagliari at the Diego Maradona Stadium, largely due to an impressive performance by visiting goalkeeper Elia Caprile. The last-minute nature of Cagliari’s collapse highlights a troubling statistic for the Sardinians, who have now managed only one victory in their last 11 away Serie A games. For Napoli, the result is a welcome relief, marking their third flawless two-game start in four attempts to defend their title.

Torino 0-0 Fiorentina
Torino and Fiorentina both continued their winless streak in the Serie A season after settling for a dull 0-0 draw at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino. This result extended Fiorentina’s unbeaten streak against Torino to seven matches. Fiorentina have now gone four games unbeaten in all competitions during the 2025/26 season, although their display was far from impressive.
Genoa 0-1 Juventus
A lone goal from Dušan Vlahović was sufficient to earn Juventus a 1-0 win against Genoa at Stadio Luigi Ferraris. The Bianconeri have collected a perfect six points ahead of the international break and remain undefeated in league matches where Vlahović has found the net (25 wins, 11 draws).

Lazio 4-0 Verona
Taty Castellanos led Lazio to their first Serie A win of the season, contributing a goal and two assists in a convincing 4-0 triumph over Hellas Verona. This result extended Verona’s winless streak against the Biancocelesti to eight matches (3 draws, 5 losses). The victory was exactly the straightforward success Sarri desired, marking Lazio’s fourth straight head-to-head win against a Verona team that had a tough evening in Rome.
Inter 1-2 Udinese
Udinese shocked the Giuseppe Meazza by rallying from behind to claim a 2-1 win over Inter Milan in Serie A, marking their first time avoiding defeat in seven head-to-head encounters against the Nerazzurri. Thanks to the exceptional efforts of Solet and Thomas Kristensen late in the game, Udinese held off the increasingly frustrated Inter side to secure only their third victory in 11 away Serie A games in 2025, extending their unbeaten streak to three competitive matches at the start of the season.
