Serie A Roundup, Matchday 3

Matchday 3 of the 2025/26 Serie A season featured exciting matches, unexpected outcomes, and outstanding displays from numerous players. This Serie A roundup provides an overview of the games from this round.

Cagliari 2-0 Parma

Cagliari secured their first league win of the 2025/26 season with a 2-0 triumph over Parma at the Unipol Domus in Sardinia. Although the home side didn’t perform at their peak, Cagliari coach Fabio Pisacane will be very pleased that his team capitalized on key opportunities to earn all three points. Meanwhile, Parma’s search for their first Serie A victory of the 2025/26 campaign goes on.

Juventus 4-3 Inter

Juventus mounted an exciting late rally to edge out Inter Milan 4-3 at the Allianz Stadium, a ground where the Nerazzurri have won just once in their last 13 league visits. Vasilije Adžić scored a spectacular goal from 30 yards, which was a strong candidate for goal of the match. That strike proved to be the winning goal in a thrilling encounter, securing Juventus their third straight victory, a first hat-trick of wins to start a season since 2018/19, while Chivu’s side has now endured back-to-back defeats.

Fiorentina 1-3 Napoli

Napoli reinforced their title defense with a 3-1 victory over Fiorentina, extending their unbeaten streak in away league matches against them to eight games. The team continues to impress, having won their first three matches of the season for the first time since 2021/22.

AS Roma 0-1 Torino

Torino secured their first Serie A victory of the season by beating AS Roma 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico, also breaking an eight-match losing streak against them. This marked Roma’s first home defeat in 14 meetings. However, Roma cannot linger on this loss for long, as they are set to face their fierce rivals Lazio in the Derby della Capitale next Sunday.

Pisa 0-1 Udinese

Pisa’s 34-year wait for a Serie A win goes on after a narrow 1-0 defeat to Udinese at the Arena Garibaldi, with Udinese extending their unbeaten run at the start of the league season. Pisa are evidently still adjusting to life back in Italy’s top division after a lengthy absence, but their lack of attacking creativity needs improvement, having managed only two shots on target in 90 minutes against Udinese and scoring just one goal in their first three league games.

Atalanta 4-1 Lecce

Charles De Ketelaere led Atalanta to a commanding 4-1 triumph against struggling Lecce, securing Ivan Jurić’s first Serie A victory as La Dea’s coach on his third attempt. Although an offside call prevented Atalanta from scoring a fifth goal, it was insignificant as they celebrated a win that brings them to five points while the visitors remain with just one.

Sassuolo 1-0 Lazio

Sassuolo secured their first Serie A victory of the season with Alieu Fadera’s second-half goal, which was enough to defeat Lazio 1-0. This win ended a streak of five consecutive head-to-head matches without a victory for the Neroverdi. Despite Lazio’s late efforts to change the outcome, Grosso’s team held on to claim a hard-earned three points, also putting an end to three straight home losses in the top division.

AC Milan 1-0 Bologna

AC Milan have remained undefeated in their last 10 home matches at the San Siro against Bologna, securing a 1-0 victory over the Rossoblù in Serie A. Ultimately, Allegri’s team didn’t require an additional goal to guarantee their win, marking the first time in five seasons that the head coach has guided Milan to two wins within the first three matchdays of a Serie A campaign.

Verona 0-0 Cremonese

Verona were held to a 0-0 draw by newly-promoted Cremonese in Serie A, marking only one victory in their last 14 home games. The Gialloblu have climbed to 16th place but are still searching for their first win of the current season.

Como 1-1 Genoa

Genoa secured a dramatic away draw against Como thanks to a last-minute goal from Caleb Ekuban in the final match of Serie A’s third round. Cesc Fabregas will be frustrated that his team couldn’t maintain their lead during a mostly uneventful second half from both sides. Meanwhile, Genoa coach Patrick Vieira will be glad to see his team score their first Serie A goal of the 2025/26 season.
