Serie A Roundup, Matchday 8
Matchday 8 of the 2025/26 Serie A season showcased thrilling games, surprising results, and remarkable performances from many players. This Serie A roundup provides an overview of the games from this round.
AC Milan 2-2 Pisa
AC Milan missed what seemed like a perfect opportunity to stake a claim in the title race after a surprising 2-2 draw with Pisa at the San Siro. This result nearly gave Pisa their first-ever away win against the Rossoneri. Although they narrowly missed out on a significant three points, a determined and tough Pisa team has at least climbed out of last place and now sits in 19th position.

Udinese 3-2 Lecce
Udinese achieved their first home victory in Serie A since March by defeating Lecce 3-2 at the Bluenergy Stadium, marking their fourth consecutive head-to-head win. On the other hand, Lecce is two points above the relegation zone following only their second loss in seven away league matches.
Parma 0-0 Como
Parma and Como had difficulty scoring as they ended in a frustrating 0-0 stalemate at the Ennio Tardini Stadium. This result marked Parma’s second straight goalless draw and left them with only one win in their last eight league matches. The teams split the points, with Parma recording their third draw in five league fixtures.
Napoli 3-1 Inter
Napoli bounced back from their disappointing 6-2 defeat to PSV on Wednesday by extending their unbeaten streak in the Serie A season (6 wins, 2 draws) with a convincing 3-1 victory at home against Inter. This result was enough to secure the win and preserve Napoli’s flawless home record this season, marking five wins across all competitions. The victory also moves Antonio Conte’s team three points clear of fourth-placed Inter, placing them at the top of Serie A, one point ahead of AC Milan.

Cremonese 1-1 Atalanta
Atalanta extended their unbeaten streak to seven matches in all competitions but were held to a 1-1 draw by Cremonese at the Stadio Giovanni Zini in Serie A. Jamie Vardy, who scored for Cremonese, netted his first goal for the club. This result places Atalanta in seventh place, just one point ahead of Cremonese in the standings.
Torino 2-1 Genoa
Torino staged a comeback to secure a last-minute 2-1 win against Genoa at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, prolonging Genoa’s winless streak in the Serie A season to nine matches. This victory lifts Torino to 12th place in the league standings, just 3 points shy of the top five, whereas Genoa remain without a win in all eight games and continue to occupy the bottom position in the table.
Verona 2-2 Cagliari
Hellas Verona came close to securing their first Serie A win of the season on their eighth try, but heartbreakingly, Cagliari staged a comeback from two goals behind to earn a 2-2 draw at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi. This result means Verona remain winless in eight matches this season (5 draws, 3 losses), staying just one point above the relegation zone.
Sassuolo 0-1 AS Roma
Paulo Dybala’s goal in the first half was enough for AS Roma to secure a hard-earned 1-0 win against US Sassuolo at the MAPEI Stadium, moving them up to second place in Serie A. The three points provide significant relief for Giallorossi coach Gian Piero Gasperini following two consecutive losses across all competitions. Despite the home loss, Sassuolo drops to 13th place in the league standings.

Fiorentina 2-2 Bologna
Fiorentina are still searching for their first win in this Serie A season, but they managed a determined comeback to secure a 2-2 draw after being two goals down against the strong Bologna side at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. Bologna will be very disappointed to have missed out on the win, while Stefano Pioli’s unbeaten record as a head coach against his former club since leaving in 2014 remains unbroken.
Lazio 1-0 Juventus
Juventus’ struggles persisted as their winless streak extended to eight matches across all competitions, after a 1-0 loss to Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. This defeat has added more pressure on Bianconeri head coach Igor Tudor. Discontent is rising among both Juventus players and supporters, with the Old Lady dropping to eighth place and still looking for their first competitive victory since mid-September.
