Premier League Roundup, Matchday 21
The 21st round of the Premier League has come to an end, showcasing thrilling games, outstanding individual displays, and surprising results. Here is the Premier League roundup of this matchday.
West Ham 1-2 Nottingham Forest
Nottingham Forest gave their chances of staying up a significant lift with an important 2-1 victory over West Ham United, breaking a streak of four consecutive Premier League losses and adding to West Ham’s troubles. The Hammers have now managed just two wins in their last 18 Premier League matches (with 5 draws and 11 losses), a run that seems to have nearly determined their bottom three finish, even though the 2025/26 season is only slightly beyond its midpoint.
Manchester City 1-1 Brighton
Pep Guardiola endured a third straight draw for just the third time in his coaching career as Manchester City ended in a 1-1 tie with Brighton & Hove Albion, who missed the opportunity to claim their first-ever win at the Etihad Stadium. This is only the fourth occasion in 16 trips to this venue that Brighton have managed to avoid losing, and it’s the first time they have gone unbeaten against City in back-to-back seasons.

Fulham 2-1 Chelsea
Fulham achieved a 2-1 victory in a tense London derby against Chelsea, who played with 10 men, in the Premier League. This was only their third win in the last 29 encounters with Chelsea. It also extended Fulham’s unbeaten streak to six Premier League games in a row, lifting them to 9th position in the league table. They are now just behind Chelsea on goal difference, while Chelsea remain in a difficult spell, having gone five matches without a win.

Everton 1-1 Wolves
Wolves’ revival in the Premier League continues as they have now gone three games without defeat after a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Everton, who finished with nine players, at the Hill Dickinson Stadium. Although Wolves remain 14 points adrift of safety, making survival seem unlikely, their current total of seven points puts them in a good position to avoid becoming the worst Premier League team ever, a record currently held by Derby County, who managed just 11 points in the 2007/08 season.
Crystal Palace 0-0 Aston Villa
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner maintained his unbeaten streak against Aston Villa coach Unai Emery, reaching seven matches without a loss, as both teams missed opportunities in a goalless draw at Selhurst Park. For 13th-placed Palace, the improved performance was encouraging, but they were left frustrated by their ongoing winless run, which has now extended to eight games in all competitions.
Brentford 3-0 Sunderland
Brentford secured their fourth victory in five Premier League matches by defeating Sunderland 3-0 at the Gtech Community Stadium, impressively climbing to fifth place in the standings. Igor Thiago, with 16 goals, became the top-scoring Brazilian in a single Premier League season. Sunderland have managed only one win in their last eight away games (3 draws, 4 losses).
Bournemouth 3-2 Tottenham
Antoine Semenyo gave Bournemouth an ideal farewell present by scoring in stoppage time, securing a 3-2 win against fellow struggling team Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League. This goal ended Bournemouth’s 11-game winless streak. Meanwhile, Thomas Frank’s team has only won once in their last six matches and currently sits in 14th place.

Newcastle 4-3 Leeds
Newcastle United netted two goals during injury time to secure an incredible 4-3 win against Leeds United in an exciting Premier League match. This victory extended the Magpies’ unbeaten streak at home across all competitions to 12 games (10 wins, 2 draws). In the final moments, Barnes displayed great composure to score his second goal and Newcastle’s fourth, wrapping up what was arguably the best Premier League game of the season so far.
Burnley 2-2 Manchester United
Manchester United let their advantage slip and ended up with a 2-2 draw against Burnley at Turf Moor, resulting in their fourth draw in six league games. In the end, United had to settle for a draw, which did little to boost their hopes of securing a top-four finish, while the point did nothing for Burnley other than extend their winless run to 12 matches.

Arsenal 0-0 Liverpool
Arsenal and Liverpool ended their match in a goalless draw, marking the first scoreless Premier League encounter between the two teams since August 2015. This result halted Arsenal’s streak of seven consecutive wins in all competitions and showed that the title race remains highly competitive. Arsenal had a chance to win in the final moments, but Gabriel’s header from a last-minute corner went wide. The draw puts Arsenal six points ahead of Manchester City, with both Pep Guardiola’s team and Aston Villa still close enough to challenge.
