Arsenal vs Wolves Review
Arsenal needed a last-minute goal in the 94th minute to secure a 2-1 win against Wolves, extending their winning streak against Wolves to nine consecutive matches. As anticipated, the home team quickly took control of the game, with Bukayo Saka delivering an early cross that Jurriën Timber headed over the bar. The Gunners maintained patient ball movement against a determined Wolves side that showed great commitment. Declan Rice then failed to make a strong connection with a header from another Saka cross, as Arsenal continued to focus their attacks down the right flank.

Although the home team controlled the match, Hwang Hee-chan had the first shot on target in the 27th minute when he outran Arsenal’s defenders, but his shot was comfortably saved by David Raya. This moment caused a problem for Mikel Arteta as Ben White soon had to leave the game due to injury. Nevertheless, the home side quickly resumed their attacks, with Jørgen Strand Larsen blocking Saka’s shot, Gabriel Martinelli missing two attempts wide, and another shot being deflected for a corner. Frustration was evident at the Emirates as halftime approached, especially when Piero Hincapié had to block Strand Larsen in stoppage time.

The pattern continued after the break, with Myles Lewis-Skelly’s shot being cleared and boos from the crowd whenever Wolves delayed the game. Martinelli was substituted as part of a triple change by Arteta just before the 60-minute mark. Viktor Gyökeres then headed a chance wide, and Emmanuel Agabdou blocked Mikel Merino’s shot. Up to the 65th minute, Wolves’ goalkeeper Sam Johnstone had not faced a single save, but he made two excellent stops against Rice in quick succession. However, Johnstone was unlucky shortly after when he tipped Saka’s corner onto the post, but the ball bounced off his back and into the net, finally breaking the deadlock.

Martin Ødegaard, Gyökeres, and Leandro Trossard all missed chances as Arsenal sought to extend their lead before the visitors pushed back and scored a dramatic equalizer in the 90th minute. The visitors moved the ball to the flank, where Mateus Mané delivered a precise cross that Tolu Arokodare headed past Raya, causing chaos among the away fans.

However, heartbreak quickly followed when Yerson Mosquera accidentally headed Saka’s cross into his own net, sealing the Wolves’ 10th straight loss. This moment might help ease the disappointment from Arsenal’s dramatic loss to Aston Villa, especially since they have won two consecutive matches across all competitions since then.
