AS Roma vs Inter Review
Inter Milan have temporarily returned to the top of Serie A on goal difference after securing a 1-0 victory against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico. This win marks their eighth triumph in the last ten league encounters against the Giallorossi. Given the high stakes, it was no surprise that Lautaro Martínez received the game’s first booking just four minutes in for a foul on Wesley. More importantly, his strike partner Ange-Yoan Bonny managed to break through Roma’s offside trap and, despite apparently expecting the offside flag, scored past Mile Svilar to open the scoring just six minutes into the match.

Bryan Cristante then came very close to leveling the score with a header, while Henrikh Mkhitaryan missed an opportunity to extend Inter’s lead. There was a stretch when the Giallorossi appeared equally lost and frustrated, but they managed to avoid conceding a second goal and began trying to create chances on the counterattack. Evan Ndicka became the second home player to head off target from a corner, yet Gian Piero Gasperini’s team still found it difficult to break through the solid defense of white shirts with their intricate play. Inter also posed a threat going forward, as shown by Ndicka’s cynical foul on Bonny, which earned him a yellow card.

This aggressive approach continued into the second half, with Martínez missing a header and Denzel Dumfries being denied after a quick counterattack within five minutes of the restart. Yann Sommer then made key saves, denying Paulo Dybala after a defense-splitting pass from Manu Koné and stopping Mario Hermoso’s header. Later, Zeki Çelik had a shot deflected into the side netting for a corner, which was headed back to substitute Artem Dovbyk, who missed a golden opportunity.

As time ran down, Inter did enough to secure their sixth consecutive win in all competitions, joining Napoli and Roma with 15 points. Roma will be keen to recover swiftly, as despite this being only their second loss in Serie A this season, they have now lost two of their last three games across all competitions.
