Barcelona vs Frankfurt Review
Barcelona’s 2-1 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League marked their first-ever win against the Bundesliga team and extended Eintracht’s winless streak to four matches. From the start, Barcelona played with great intensity, constantly pressuring Frankfurt. Robert Lewandowski appeared to have put the home side ahead with a volley in the 10th minute, but the goal was disallowed due to an earlier offside.

Shortly after, Gerard Martín took a long-range shot that forced Frankfurt’s goalkeeper Michael Zetterer into a sharp save. However, the visitors struck unexpectedly in the 21st minute when Nathaniel Brown’s clever pass found Ansgar Knauff, who outmuscled defenders and fired a low, powerful shot past Joan García. Despite the initial setback, Barça kept pushing forward, although their final passes were often lacking, especially since Frankfurt consistently assigned at least two defenders to mark Lamine Yamal. Pedri and Raphinha worked hard to break through the defense, but the German team remained solid with relative ease. In first-half stoppage time, Knauff’s excellent assist allowed Ellyes Skhiri to unleash a powerful shot just over the bar, as the visitors threatened once again.

Early in the second half, Frankfurt showed their intention to do more than just defend their narrow lead with two decent chances in the first two minutes. Shortly after, Raphinha missed a good opportunity by sending a lofted cut-back from substitute Marcus Rashford over the crossbar. However, this only delayed the inevitable, as Rashford soon delivered an outstanding cross for Jules Kounde to head in the equalizer. Kounde then scored again two minutes later, with Frankfurt’s defenders frozen in place.

Later on, Raphinha made a determined run and took a shot, which Zetterer comfortably saved. As Barcelona kept up the pressure, Frankfurt resorted to hopeful long balls in an attempt to find an equalizer. The home team was clearly in control as the game approached its final moments, and despite a few minor concerns, they secured the win with ease.
