Brighton vs Arsenal Review
Arsenal played a 1-1 draw against Brighton at the AMEX Stadium in Saturday night’s Premier League match, extending their unbeaten away league streak to six games but missing out on two crucial points in the title race. After both teams had some early possession, Arsenal took the lead with the first significant opportunity of the match. Mikel Merino’s through ball reached Ethan Nwaneri, who calmly finished under Bart Verbruggen into the bottom corner. Before halftime, Simon Adingra wasted Brighton’s best chance to equalize, misfiring Matt O’Riley’s pass from a good position.
Arsenal made another attempt to score, with Nwaneri nearly netting a second goal when his corner hit the outside of the post. Gabriel Jesus then headed another corner over the bar, with Declan Rice providing the assist this time. Early in the second half, another set-piece for Arsenal saw Merino miss the target when he should have capitalized on Rice’s delivery. Just a few minutes later, Brighton took advantage of this missed chance when they were awarded a penalty after William Saliba accidentally headbutted João Pedro while trying to clear the ball. Pedro took the penalty himself, deceiving David Raya and placing the ball perfectly into the top corner.
Both teams managed to secure a point in a tense final few minutes, leaving Brighton without a win in their last eight league matches. Arsenal, on the other hand, had to accept yet another frustrating draw against the Seagulls, mirroring the scoreline from their previous encounter.
