Club Brugge vs Arsenal Review
Noni Madueke scored twice to help Arsenal secure a 3-0 victory over Club Brugge, keeping the Gunners as the only team with a perfect record in the UEFA Champions League group stage. Arsenal showed early promise, with Martin Ødegaard testing Dani van den Heuvel, who was making his Champions League debut after Simon Mignolet was injured during the warm-up. The home team still competed well, with Aleksandar Stanković having a speculative shot blocked, but Arsenal continued to create better chances, including Piero Hincapié’s instinctive effort that hit the post and Viktor Gyökeres’ header that was deflected behind.

Their first goal finally arrived in the 25th minute when Madueke skillfully bypassed Joaquin Seys and Raphael Onyedika, then unleashed a powerful shot that hit the underside of the crossbar and went in. On the other side, Carlos Forbs posed the greatest threat, but his shot was blocked by Hincapié and then saved by David Raya. Stanković curled a shot narrowly wide, and both he and Christos Tzolis had attempts saved as Blauw-Zwart pushed for an equalizer.

Arsenal started the second half perfectly, with Madueke scoring his second goal just 90 seconds after the restart, heading in a simple cross from Martín Zubimendi. Gabriel Martinelli then made history as the first Arsenal player to score in five consecutive Champions League matches, elegantly escaping Hugo Siquet and Onyedika before curling a beautiful shot into the top corner. Tzolis continued to threaten on the counterattack as his corner found Brandon Mechele, whose shot was blocked by Myles Lewis-Skelly, and then the Greek international fired a shot wide himself.

Gabriel Jesus was left stunned when his shot struck the crossbar. Despite this, there was much to celebrate as 16-year-old Marli Salmon made his first-team debut. Arsenal became only the second English club ever to win 10 consecutive UEFA Champions League group stage matches, moving three points clear at the top of the table. Meanwhile, Club Brugge are still searching for their first victory in the competition since their opening group game, currently sitting 31st and three points behind a playoff spot.
