Dusan Vlahovic reportedly wanted as Gabriel Jesus replacement

According to reports, Arsenal is the front-runner to sign Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic after Gabriel Jesus’ injury revealed their lack of depth in the attack.

Dusan Vlahovic, 22, started the current Serie A season in good form, scoring six goals and providing an assist in his first 10 appearances after being acquired from Fiorentina for €70 million in January of this year.

Due to an adductor injury, he was unable to play in Juventus’ final four league matches before the World Cup break. He also struggled for Serbia in Qatar, scoring just one goal in 79 total minutes on the field.

Although he still has three more seasons left on his contract, Juventus’ internal strife may make the young talent available as the team works to resolve its financial problems.

Vlahovic is no longer thought of as the “immovable cornerstone” he was before the season, according to Calciomercato, who cites the “corporate situation” as a key issue.

The implication of the claim is that Vlahovic won’t be sold until it is absolutely essential and, more crucially, that Juventus won’t start considering selling him until the end of the current campaign.

Jesus’ recovery from knee surgery is expected to take three months, thus Arsenal must consider if they should switch to an alternative player in order to provide protection.

According to a different Calciomercato source, Juventus would be open to trading Vlahovic for Joao Felix, a forward for Atletico Madrid who is also rumored to be reaching the end of his contract with his club.
