Erling Haaland to miss international duty due to injury

Erling Haaland was ordered back to Manchester City by doctors when they discovered he had a groyne injury, according to the Norwegian FA

Haaland played 63 minutes in City’s 6-0 FA Cup triumph over Burnley, which was enough time for him to record a hat-trick, but after the game, he complained of soreness in the area.

Soon after, he departed to join up with Norway, but the Scandinavian team has since revealed that Haaland has been returned to Manchester for more treatment.

“Erling Braut Haaland had some pain in his groin after the match against Burnley,” a statement read.

“We hoped that this was just a familiarity that would carry over to Saturday, but after doing tests and examinations yesterday it became clear that he will not make it to the games against Spain and Georgia.

“‘It is better that he receives medical follow-up at the club’, says national team doctor Ola Sand. Haaland thus travels home from the national team meeting.”

Fans of City are understandably concerned about any injury to Haaland, not the least of which being his erratic fitness history.

The striker has had some luck in England, missing just two games due to a foot ailment before the World Cup, but Haaland had many problems with his previous club Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland sustained eight different injuries between May 2020 and March 2022, missing a total of 28 games across all competitions. The most recent of those injuries, a groyne injury, forced Haaland to miss more than a month of action.
