Fulham vs Chelsea Review
Chelsea achieved a significant victory in the Champions League race by coming from behind to defeat Fulham 2-1 in an away match in the Premier League. Fulham has historically struggled to secure wins against Chelsea, but they seemed to have made a strong start when Andreas Pereira scored from close range. However, his goal was disallowed after the offside flag was raised and a quick VAR review confirmed multiple offsides in the buildup.
This momentary relief for Chelsea was short-lived, as they soon found themselves trailing. Their downfall was largely self-inflicted, as Reece James lost possession to Ryan Sessegnon, who advanced and set up Alex Iwobi, who then struck a left-footed shot from the edge of the area into the bottom corner. Unfortunately, he missed the target badly, indicating it might not be Chelsea’s day. Dominating possession in Fulham’s half for most of the second half, Chelsea eventually equalized thanks to academy graduate Tyrique George, who seized on a loose ball and fired it into the bottom corner.
Chelsea carried all the momentum as the match neared its conclusion, and they converted that dominance into a late goal. It was a well-deserved strike, as Pedro Neto skillfully controlled the ball, turned, and blasted it into the top of Leno’s net, igniting celebrations in the away section and propelling Chelsea into the top five. While the loss isn’t disastrous for Fulham, they missed the opportunity to climb into eighth place, which could potentially secure a European spot by the end of the season, depending on the outcome of the FA Cup.
