Getafe vs Real Madrid Review
Real Madrid climbed back to the top of La Liga with a narrow 1-0 win against Getafe at the Coliseum, marking their eighth consecutive victory in head-to-head matches. Although Madrid were expected to win comfortably at Getafe, especially since they had scored at least twice in each of their previous seven La Liga matches, they faced resistance from their opponents in the first half. Kylian Mbappé, as has often been the case this season, appeared the most likely to score for Real Madrid but missed the target from outside the box after his shot was saved by David Soria.

Rodrygo also challenged Soria from a tight angle, but arguably the home team came closest to scoring when Álex Sancris narrowly missed with a volley just wide of the post. Starting him on the bench, Xabi Alonso brought Vinícius Júnior on early in the seconad half to try to boost his team’s momentum. However, Madrid still struggled to create chances in the attacking third, with Mbappé appearing as the most likely to make an impact.

Meanwhile, Getafe showed occasional threats, with Adrián Liso firing a shot narrowly wide of the goal. Mbappé then took a free-kick that just missed the post before a decisive two-minute period determined the outcome. Less than a minute after entering the game, Allan Nyom was shown a straight red card for hitting Vinícius in the face off the ball, and moments later, Madrid took the lead. As expected, Mbappé opened the scoring by powerfully finishing from close range.

Getafe was then reduced to nine players when Álex received a second yellow card for another foul on Vinícius, effectively ending the contest. This victory marks Madrid’s eighth consecutive win against Getafe and puts them two points clear at the top of the table. Getafe, meanwhile, remain mid-table, five points above the relegation zone after nine matches.
