Juventus maintained their unbeaten home record in Serie A this season with a 2-1 win against AS Roma at the Allianz Stadium. The first half was mostly uneventful, with both teams showing little quality in the attacking third. Early in the match, Juventus captain Manuel Locatelli and Roma forward Paulo Dybala each had a shot on target, but neither posed a real threat to the goalkeeper. Khéphren Thuram also took a long-range speculative shot for the home side, but it resulted in a routine save by Mile Svilar around the 30-minute mark.

As halftime approached, the crowd finally saw a clear chance when Francisco Conceição skillfully turned past his defender and took a shot from about 12 yards out, but Svilar made a smart save. This opportunity sparked some momentum in the game, and just before the break, Conceição scored with a precise left-footed shot into the bottom corner from inside the box, giving The Old Lady the lead. Juventus began the second half aggressively, putting Roma’s defense under intense pressure right from the start.

Kenan Yıldız came close to doubling Juventus’s lead after 52 minutes, and shortly after, Andrea Cambiaso’s powerful shot from outside the area forced Svilar into a quick save. Juventus deservedly scored a second goal with 20 minutes left when Loïs Openda tapped in a pass from Weston McKennie after Svilar had blocked Openda’s initial close-range attempt. With the match seemingly decided, the visitors earned a lifeline after 75 minutes when Tommaso Baldanzi was perfectly positioned to score from the rebound following Evan Ferguson’s powerful shot, which was saved but not fully cleared by Michele Di Gregorio.

As the game opened up, the home team nearly sealed the victory late on when Yıldız’s curling shot struck the post. Juventus had to withstand a few tense moments near the end but ultimately did enough to claim a well-deserved win. Despite taking all three points, the Bianconeri remain fifth in the standings, now just four points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan. Luciano Spalletti’s team will face relegation-threatened Pisa away in their next league match. Meanwhile, Roma hold fourth place and will look to get back to winning ways in Serie A when they host Genoa on Monday, December 29th.
