Latest on Chelsea transfer news: Romelu Lukaku could get the chance to rebuild his career at Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino

Romelu Lukaku will return to Chelsea this summer following a season-long loan stint at Inter Milan. There is a potential that Lukaku might revive his career at Stamford Bridge under yet-to-be boss Mauricio Pochettino, despite his falling out with former Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel and his admission that he was “not happy” with his circumstances at the club.

In the summer of 2021, Lukaku returned to Chelsea for a second time after leaving Inter Milan, where he won the Serie A championship, in a then-record £97.5 million deal. However, his decision backfired as he criticised former manager Thomas Tuchel and his tactics in a TV interview with Sky Italia. Because of this, Lukaku lost favour with the supporters and was viewed as an expensive mistake.

Lukaku has enjoyed a productive season while back on loan at Inter. However, he will not be staying in Italy and his next career move still remains uncertain, even if his first step will be returning to Chelsea.

Pochettino, who is anticipated to be named Chelsea’s next manager shortly, will have to make a number of significant choices this summer as he attempts to revamp the team. After being denied access to European football for the upcoming season, Chelsea will face immediate pressure to balance the books and adhere to expenditure restrictions. Even though Chelsea have a buy-back option on striker Tammy Abraham deal, they are unlikely to want to make a significant new investment. Lukaku might fill the void in the team as the main striker.

Currently, as Chelsea continues to struggle in the Premier League, Romelu Lukaku on the other hand is making progress with Inter Milan in the Champions League and they have a higher chance of making it to the final.
