In what may have been the tournament’s greatest-ever final, Lionel Messi led Argentina to their first World Cup victory in 36 years when they defeated France on penalties.
After 120 minutes of play, the score was tied at 3-3, and Lionel Messi played a key role in his country’s victory by scoring twice and starting the scoring in a penalty shootout that they would go on to win 4-2.
But at the eagerly awaited trophy presentation, supporters were taken aback when Messi accepted the priceless World Cup trophy while dressed in a black robe.
As it stayed draped over him as he and his team lifted the World Cup, it covered his iconic jersey and confused many people around the globe.

So Why Did Lionel Messi Wear The Black Robe And What Did It Mean?
Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the host of Qatar, and FIFA president Gianni Infantino gave the trophy to the seven-time winner of the Ballon d’Or.
The semi-transparent black robe with gold trim that he would wear for the formal trophy presentation and lift was given to him by the Emir.
The robe is referred to as a “bisht,” which is a customary article of clothing for males in the Arab culture that is frequently worn for ceremonial events like weddings.
The bisht has regal overtones since secular authorities or clergy frequently wear them.
Fans have obviously never seen the costume worn during the championship celebrations before because this is the first World Cup ever staged in the Arab region. Additionally, it is the first time a World Cup-winning captain has donned traditional garb while hoisting the trophy.
