Manchester United vs Newcastle Review
Manchester United broke a three-game winless run at Old Trafford by defeating Newcastle United 1-0, leaving the struggling Magpies with just one win in their last 12 Premier League away matches. Despite injury problems prompting Ruben Amorim to make changes, Patrick Dorgu stood out as one of the more active United players, playing as a makeshift right winger early on. Benjamin Šeško missed a chance after receiving a low cross from Dorgu.

Matheus Cunha then fired a powerful shot from a tight angle, forcing Aaron Ramsdale into a save, but the England goalkeeper’s night was far from over. Nick Woltemade cleared the resulting throw-in with a header, only for Dorgu to connect in the center of the box with a brilliant left-footed volley that found the bottom corner. The rest of the first half was relatively calm, although the visitors started to gain momentum and looked especially threatening down their right flank.

Their dominance continued after halftime, with Fabian Schär’s shot on goal being deflected away by Dorgu. This was followed by shots hitting the crossbar at both ends, as Šeško and Lewis Hall came agonizingly close to scoring the second goal for their teams. Newcastle increased the pressure as the half went on, but Anthony Gordon’s weak shot highlighted their continued struggle to convert chances. The United area was filled with crosses and shots during the final moments, but Newcastle couldn’t score the goal required to earn a draw.

Consequently, the home team temporarily climbed to fifth place after securing only their third victory in the last nine league matches. Eddie Howe is likely frustrated with his team’s finishing in the second half, particularly since they have failed to score in six of their last twelve Premier League away games.
