Paris Saint-Germain extended their lead at the top of Ligue 1 to 16 points with a commanding 4-1 victory over Lille at Parc des Princes, scoring all four goals before halftime and staying on track for an unbeaten domestic season. PSG showcased their determination right from the start, as Bradley Barcola and João Neves executed a great play, although Barcola missed the shot. Shortly after, Barcola redeemed himself by scoring after Dembélé’s curled shot was deflected into his path by Lucas Chevalier. Chevalier was then forced to make a save on Dembélé’s long-range attempt, and he quickly recovered to block shots from both Gonçalo Ramos and Achraf Hakimi.

Chevalier made what could be considered his best save of the evening by diving to his left to stop João Neves, but he couldn’t prevent PSG from increasing their lead midway through the first half. A poor clearance attempt by Mitchel Bakker led to a corner for Lille, which was eventually played out to Désiré Doué. Doué’s enticing back-post cross was headed in by Marquinhos, making it 2-0. PSG quickly made it 3-0 with a well-executed move, where Neves set up Dembélé for a smooth finish.

Before halftime, Doué scored a stunning goal from a tight angle, effectively sealing the match. Barcola nearly added a fifth goal before the break, leaving Lille’s coach Bruno Génésio, clearly shocked, to make two substitutions at halftime, including bringing on Kylian Mbappé’s brother, Ethan. The 18-year-old almost helped Lille score a consolation goal with a dangerous corner that Alexsandro headed over. Although the game’s intensity decreased as it progressed, Lille eventually found the net when Gianluigi Donnarumma parried an Mbappé shot, allowing substitute Jonathan David to finish the rebound.

Lille has managed only one victory in their last 29 away head-to-head matches against PSG, leaving them five points behind the top three. They need to regroup before facing a tough UEFA Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday, just a day before PSG takes on Liverpool in what promises to be an exciting game in the same tournament.
