Recent reports have revealed that PSG were contemplating on making a move for Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann to bolster their attacking options before the end of the transfer window.
As the transfer window approached its deadline, PSG embarked on a significant offensive overhaul following the departures of Lionel Messi and Neymar. Their goal: to find new partners for their star player, Kylian Mbappé.
Reports from L’Equipe indicated that PSG was considering the possibility of signing Antoine Griezmann from Atlético de Madrid. Griezmann, who had previously been one of the key figures in the French national team, was reportedly available for a transfer fee of €25 million. This news prompted PSG to explore the feasibility of securing his services.
However, the negotiations encountered a major hurdle: Griezmann’s substantial salary demands. PSG had already made substantial investments in the transfer market and was reluctant to add another high-profile player to its payroll. The club faced a tough financial balancing act as it sought to rebuild its attack.
As a result, PSG ultimately decided not to proceed with the signing of Antoine Griezmann during the summer transfer window. The French striker remained at Atlético de Madrid, continuing his journey with the club for the time being.
While the deal did not materialize this time, the story may not be over. Speculation remains about a potential future move in 2024. Griezmann could decide to leave the Wanda Metropolitano and embark on a new sporting adventure with PSG, managed by Spanish coach Luis Enrique. Such a transfer would undoubtedly be one of the headline-grabbing moves in the next summer transfer window.
