Real Betis vs Barcelona Review
Barcelona extended their unbeaten streak in head-to-head matches to eight wins out of the last ten, as they comfortably secured a 5-3 victory over Real Betis in La Liga at Estadio de La Cartuja. Both teams started energetically, with several turnovers early on, but a momentary lapse in concentration from Barcelona’s defense allowed Antony, who appeared offside, to find himself alone in front of goal and score the opening goal within five minutes.

However, Barcelona soon took control of the game, and a brilliant team move culminated in Ferran Torres scoring a precise low shot. In the very next attack during a period dominated entirely by Barcelona, Torres acrobatically volleyed in a cross from Roony Bardghji to complete the comeback. Despite Betis facing a difficult situation, Ez Abde and Antony consistently provided options for long balls up the field. However, these passes seldom came, and the home team suffered again when Bardghji slipped past two defenders and scored his first La Liga goal with a right-footed shot at the near post, beating Álvaro Valles.

Just before halftime, Ferran’s speculative shot was deflected into the net by Betis defender Marc Bartra, extending the visitors’ lead. Trailing 4-1 and seemingly out of hope, Betis nearly conceded again early in the second half when Marcus Rashford’s shot went just wide. With Lamine Yamal also playing well, the home side remained on the defensive, and Yamal missed a good chance with only Valles to beat. A highly controversial penalty was then awarded to the visitors after a VAR review showed the ball clearly struck Bartra’s body before hitting his arm. Lamine took the penalty confidently, sending Valles the wrong way and scoring.

Barcelona missed a three-on-one chance despite maintaining full control of the match, while Abde’s failure to convert a half-chance reflected both his and Betis’ struggles that afternoon. Antony challenged Barça goalkeeper Joan García and later had a goal disallowed, with Ferran narrowly missing his fourth goal soon after. Diego Llorente’s close-range finish from a corner gave the home supporters something to celebrate late in the game, and a penalty scored by Cucho Hernández made the final scoreline more respectable.

Nevertheless, the outcome was decided well before, with the three points securing Barcelona’s position at the top of La Liga and keeping the Catalans unbeaten in away league matches against Betis since March 2008 (11 wins, 4 draws).
