Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, provided an update on Reiss Nelson’s injury sustained during Saturday’s friendly match against Juventus and addressed whether it will have an impact on his team’s January transfer plans.
Only 20 minutes had passed when Reiss Nelson was forced to leave the game at the Emirates due to an injury. Granit Xhaka and Rob Holding both scored own goals as Arsenal lost 2-0.
The 23-year-old had a strong opening to the game, coming close to scoring inside the first minute, but he now joins players like Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko on the ever-growing injury list for the Gunners.

Arteta informed reporters following the game: “We don’t know the extent of the injury.
“The fact that he had to leave the pitch straight away is not good news, especially with someone like Reiss who is really powerful and fast. Let’s see what will happen.”
Arsenal’s intentions for the January transfer window were hampered by Nelson’s injury?, Arteta was questioned: “We know what we have to do and that doesn’t change the plans.”
Since star striker Jesus was forced to miss at least February with a knee injury, a number of offensive players have been linked to Arsenal in January.
Eddie Nketiah, a backup striker, may be used to fill in for Jesus, but the 23-year-performance old’s against Juventus and his typically inconsistent goal scoring record in elite competition will have left supporters sceptical.
Reiss Nelson has now been added to the list of casualties for Arsenal, making it more probable than ever that Arteta will try to bolster his squad by at least one attack-oriented player next month.
