Jurgen Klopp’s agent plays down German national team job

Rumours that Jurgen Klopp could take over as manager of the German national team in place of Hansi Flick have been refuted by the agent for the Liverpool manager.

Following Germany’s group-stage elimination from the World Cup for the second time in a row, Flick refused to rule out resigning, reigniting long-running rumors about Jurgen Klopp and Die Mannschaft.

Jurgen Klopp’s agent has however, made it clear that the rumours are not true: “This is just a media thing,” Marc Kosicke told Sky Germany. “Jurgen has a contract with Liverpool until 2026, and he plans to fulfil that.”

In April, Klopp renewed his contract, and it is believed that he is content at Anfield. However, because of the uncertainty surrounding Liverpool as a result of Fenway Sports Group’s intention to entertain bids for the club, ties to the Germany position have surfaced.

The fact that there is now no talk of Klopp leaving Anfield before his current contract ends in 2026 is significant.

In Germany, Bernd Neuendorf, the FA president, is anticipating a debrief from Flick in the coming days to ascertain what went wrong for the squad in Qatar. Following that, Neuendorf anticipates making a decision regarding the manager’s future.
